956,159. Refuse receptacle holders. CARTEM ENGINEERING Ltd. Sept. 26, 1962 [Sept. 26, 1961; Oct. 18, 1961], Nos. 34431/61 and 37355/61. Heading B8C. A holder for a paper sack for refuse comprises a bracket member which is mounted to a support such as a wall, a frame which is inserted into the mouth of a receptacle and means providing a connection between these two members, the arrangement being such that connection between the frame member and the bracket member firmly clamps the sack in position. In one embodiment the bracket member consists of a metal strip 1 having bent endportions 2, and a ledge 7 affixed to the front. The frame member consists of a U-shaped metal strip 4 (hinged at 6 to the bracket member) and a bar portion 4a fixed to the strip 4 by lugs 8 and located immediately above the ledge 7. The holder may also be fitted with a lid 9. To use the holder, the lid is first raised and then the frame member so that the bar 4a moves sufficiently away from the ledge 7. The mouth of the sack is then passed upwardly around the outside of the frame member and folded over inwardly and both are then lowered, so that when the bar 4a comes into contact with the ledge 7 again, the sack is clamped therebetween as shown in Fig. 2. The sack is also clamped by the lugs 8 acting against the bracket member 1, and a hinge 10 may also be fitted on the frame member 4 to secure the sack at the front. In a second embodiment, the frame member consists of a complete rectangular detachable loop, the lugs 8a equivalent to the lugs 8, being fitted with downwardly extending hooks 12, Fig. 5, which engage the strip 1. In operation the frame is detached, a sack mouth is passed upwardly around and over as in the first embodiment and the frame member is re-attached causing the hooks to pierce the sack before it is clamped. In further variations (not shown), the frame may be of U-shape, the front portion being omitted, or of elliptical or other shape. The bracket member may extend downwards to hold the sack clear of the wall &c. and to provide storage space for spare sacks.
