Abstract
955,350. Insecticidal composition containing organo - phosphorus compounds. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. Jan. 26, 1962 [Jan. 30, 1961], No. 3095/62. Heading A5E. A solid insecticidal composition comprises a solid organic polymeric macromolecular substance having a molecular weight above 1000 and an organophosphorus compound having the general formula (where R is an alkyl group, X is oxygen or sulphur, and M is a group having the structure: wherein R<SP>1</SP> is hydrogen or an alkyl group, Z is halogen and R<SP>11</SP> is hydrogen, an alkyl group or halogen.) The composition may be a dust, pellet, foams or other solid shape. The solid organic polymeric macromolecular molecular substance may be thermosetting or thermoplastic. A list is given of which typical examples are polyethylene; vinyl polymers; natural and synthetic elastomers, e.g. rubber and polybutadiene; cellulose plastics; and formaldehyde urea resins. Typical of the many organo phosphorus compounds specified are 2,2-dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate; 1,2-dibromo-2,2- dichloro diethylphosphate and 2-carbomethoxy 1-methylvinyl dimethyl phosphate. The composition may also contain a non-insecticidal plasticizer of the formula: (wherein R<SP>111</SP> is an alkyl, aryl, aralkyl or alkaryl group). Other plasticizers are specified. The compositions may also include dyes, pigments, lubricants, fillers, anti-oxidants, ultraviolet stabilizers and stabilizers for the phosphorus insecticide and macramolecular substance, namely phenols, many of which are specified.
