Abstract

954,963. Cutting cigar wrappers. ARENCO A.B. May 28, 1962 [June 10, 1961], No. 20508/61. Heading A2C. [Also in Division B6] A web 1 of tobacco sheet material is drawn over a roller 3 to a cutting die 4 which cuts tobacco wrappers from the web. A carrier 6 is reciprocated by a camoperated fork 17. The leading end of the web rests on a perforated wall 7 of a chamber 8 which is alternately connected by a valve 10 to pressure conduit 11 and suction conduit 13 of a fan, not shown. Ducts 12 and 14 leading from the conduits 11 and 13 respectively are connected to the cutting die. When the carrier 6 advances, air is blown against the underside of the web 1 to hold the web to the carrier, thus feeding the web. At the end of the forward stroke of the carrier, the web is drawn to surfaces 7 and 15 by suction. The carrier is retracted while the web is cut by co-operation of rollers not shown, with a blade 5.
