A unitary assembly 1 for attachment between a diffusion pump 2 and an enclosure to be evacuated comprises at least one baffle 7 cooled by a closed refrigerant circuit 9. The assembly is secured by bolted flanges 14 and the vacuum pipe 6 is thermally insulated at 11 from the compartments containing the refrigerant compressor 12 and heat exchanger 13. A second baffle 8 is provided in the cooling water circuit 10 of the heat exchanger 13, the outside wall of the assembly having connections for this cooling circuit.
