Abstract

952,263. Air cushion vehicles. FIAT S.p.A. June 20, 1962 [July 3, 1961], No. 23749/62. Heading B7K. An air cushion vehicle has a bottom wall formed on its periphery with a continuous slit for discharging a fluid curtain and a downwardly opened annular recess adjacent the slit, the recess and bottom wall being continuous. The vehicle comprises a body 2 having a base member 3 formed inboard of the curtain-forming orifice 10 with an annular recess 11. In operation the movement of air through orifice 10 induces a rotational movement of air beneath the recess, stated to constitute a secondary peripheral cushion which improves the stability of the vehicle.
