952,141. Spinning-rings. MERRIMAN BROS Inc. May 7,1962, No. 17425/62. Heading D1D. A ring assembly comprises a one-piece annular split ring-holder having flanges co-operating with a groove or grooves in the ring to form a channel or channels holding a lubricating wick, or wicks the channel(s) being made oil-tight when the holder is contracted about the ring. As shown, the holder has upper and lower flanges with a doubled wick 46 between them, the flanges being joined by vertical portions 43,45 where the holder is split. The ring is of powdered metal and is grooved to accommodate the flanges with the wick between them. An oil reservoir is provided. In other forms, there is an additional centre flange with a doubled wick above and below it; in one such form the flanges and the wicks are contained in a groove in the ring; in another such form, the flanges only are received in grooves in the wick and the wicks are disposed between the flanged portion of the holder and the ring.
