Abstract

<PICT:0952122/C1/1> An enamel pigment consists essentially of a heated mixture of TiO2, ZrO2 and SnO2, in which are present molar proportions represented by the area bounded by the curves AB and CD in the drawing, and Cr2O3 in a proportion between 0.7% and 2.8% based on the weight of the other oxides. The oxides are coprecipitated and then heated to a temperature within the range 100-1250 DEG C. In one example a glaze mix was made up consisting of 5 g. pigment, 2.5 g. kaolin, 50 g. frit and 50 ml. water. A suitable frit composition is also disclosed.
