951,762. Fluid flowmeters. ALAN MUNTZ & CO. Ltd. June 29,1960 [Aug. 12, 1959], No. 27619/59. Heading G1R. A fluid flow indicator comprises a ball 17 within a tube 10 which is at least partly transparent to show the ball, has inlet 12 and outlet 11 connections at its ends and has its bore tapered outward in a substantially smooth curve from inlet to outlet ends. The tube 10 may be of methyl methacrylate and the ball solid or hollow and of steel, wood or plastic. Two or more balls may be used to move up the tube and extend the range of flow indicated. A dimensional example is given in which the tube bore has a straight taper up to the line 13 and a flared curve up to a counter bored top section 15 whereby measurements can be made over a range of flow rates having an 80 to 1 ratio of maximum to minimum, using a logarithmic scale.
