950,343. Keyboards. SPERRY RAND CORPORATION. Oct. 11, 1961, No. 36519/61. Heading B6F. [Also in Division G4] A key 7 for a pneumatically operated calcula. tor consists of a port 11 which is blocked by the finger of the operator. This increases pressure in passage 13 and thus directs an air stream, normally flowing from passage 19 to passage 25, into passage 27. A reset signal later appears in passage 29 under the control of means not described to deflect the air stream back into passage 25. In order to give an operator the feel of a normal keyboard, the port 11 may be in a button which when touched moves against the action of a spring (Fig. 2, not shown). A hinged flap may cover the port 11 and be the means of actually blocking the port. The direction of flow of the stream from passage 19 may be used to enter data into a store, or to control punching or printing operations.
