Abstract

An adhesive composition for uniting rubbers of different types e.g. in tyre manufacture comprises 50-90% of a halogenated butyl rubber, 5 to 30% neoprene and 5 to 40% natural rubber together with two separate carbon blacks of different particle size and the conventional rubber fillers, accelerators and curing agents. The carbon blacks specified are FEF with EPC, SRF, or FT and SRF with EPC. Di-orthotolyl-guanidine is the specified curing agent. An example gives natural rubber, chlorinated butyl rubber, neoprene, SRF and EPC blacks Amberal, a process oil, zinc oxide, sulphur and di-ortho-tolyl guanidine. Specification 910,454 is referred to.
