Abstract

An adduct of an organic vulcanizing agent containing up to 20 carbon atoms and a lightly calcined magnesia having an iodine adsorption number of from 10 to 300 is incorporated in an elastomeric stock and the mixture heated to cure. Specified organic vulcanizing agents are amines, aldehyde-amines, guanidines, pyrimidines, thioureas, thiazoles, thiocarbamates, thiuram sulphides, imidazoles, and polyhydroxy benzenes. Examples are given of the treatment of polychloroprene and of chlorobutyl rubber. The usual vulcanization and compounding agents may be present. Specification 1,002,207 is referred to.
