950,136. Wearing apparel. GREENGATE & IRWELL RUBBER CO. Ltd. Dec. 31, 1962 [Jan. 27, 1962], No. 3202/62. Heading A3V. A life saving jacket is formed of two plies of water proofed material with a back panel and two panels extending across the front, pockets being provided in the front and back panels to receive blocks of a closed cell plastics material to give buoyancy to the jacket the plies of water proofed material being adhesively closed after the insertion of the blocks thereinto. The jacket in the form of a waistcoat has a back panel a and two front panels a<SP>1</SP> extending to the back panel, the two layers of material are secured together by adhesive or the like around the pockets. Blocks B of plastics material are placed in the pockets. An elastic strap a<SP>2</SP> may extend below the back panel between the front panels. The blocks B may comprise expanded polyvinyl chloride.
