949,867. Machine tool details. S. MESSERSCHMIDT. May 23, 1961 [June 2, 1960], No. 18667/61. Heading B3B. Cylindrical workpieces are located in a machine tool by a conical surface, and then clamped by members which engage the ends of the work. A workpiece 1, Fig. 1, is located by a cone 3, and then clamped by faces 4, 5, carried by members 6, 7, respectively, so that the bore of the workpiece can be ground concentric to its outer periphery. In a modification, a workpiece 1, Fig. 2, is located by a conical mandrel 2, and is clamped by faces 4, 5, so that the outer diameter of the work can be ground concentric to its bore. Arm 6 is operated by an hydraulic piston 10, which moves a sleeve 12 axially so that a cam 19 on the sleeve co-operates with a lever 17, to urge arm 6 axially.
