949,525. Endless conveyers. SIMON-CARVES Ltd. Nov. 26, 1962 [Dec. 20, 1961], No. 45643/61. Heading B8A. A coke wharf installation comprises a wharf 11 sloping from a coke car discharge point 12 to a point 15 above a horizontal endless belt conveyer 14 where a series of horizontal coaxially - disposed feeder rolls 21 are mounted for independent rotation, and arresting flaps 34 pivoted to a retaining grille 33 disposed between the point 12 and the rolls 21. Each feeder roll 21 comprises a plurality of radial plates 27 secured to a hub and mounted on a spindle 20 fixedly mounted in brackets 19. The drive to each roll 21 is effected by a spur wheel and chain transmission 25 from an electric motor 23 engaging a spur wheel on the roll 21. An anti-spillage plate 29 extends from beneath each roll 21 to a position over the belt 14. The feeder rolls 21 can only be operated one at a time and may be operated manually from platforms 35 or 37. For semi-automatic operation, each arresting flap 34 is provided with a switch which operates a visual indicator when the flap is moved from the vertical position by the sliding coke, this switch being associated with the relevant feeder roll motor switch. For fully automatic operation the feeder roll motors are time-controlled in a programmed sequence with the coke delivering car.
