Abstract

4-(Aminomethyl)-cyclohexane -1- carboxylic acid is prepared by (a) catalytic reduction of p-(aminomethyl) benzoic acid in the presence of platinum oxide in dilute hydrochloric acid at normal temperature and pressure, (b) reduction of p-(aminomethyl) benzoic acid with metallic sodium in boiling amyl alcohol, or (c) catalytic reduction of p-cyanobenzoic acid in the presence of platinum oxide in glacial acetic acid at 50 DEG C. and under a pressure of 4.5 kg/cm2. Specification 770,693 is referred to.ALSO:Pharmaceutical compositions comprise 4-(aminomethyl) - cyclohexane - 1 - carboxylic acid and a solid or sterile parenteral liquid carrier. The compositions inhibit the activation and suppress the activity of plasmin, and may take the form of tablets, powders, capsules, ointments, solutions and suspensions. Specification 770,693 is referred to.
