Abstract

The invention comprises butyl 4-heptyloxybenzoate and the preparation thereof of either by etherification of butyl 4-hydroxybenzoate or by esterification of 4-heptyloxybenzoic acid, for example, by converting this to 4-heptyloxybenzoyl chloride and reacting this with 1-butanol. Examples are given.ALSO:A pharmaceutical composition comprises butyl 4-heptyloxybenzoate in association with a carrier or diluent. Tablets, capsules, solutions and suspensions are referred to.
