Abstract
949,281. Control of motors. LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS - G.m.b.H. July 6, 1962, No. 26053/62. Heading H2J. A control system, e.g. for inserting resistors in series with a traction motor, comprises a master controller 5 having microswitches b1 ... b4 by which signals are given to " OR " gates 31 ... 34 and thence to " AND " gates 7 ... 19 to switch bi-stable circuits 21 ... 24 controlling contactors 41 ... 43 in squence at a speed which is independent of the speed of movement of the master controller. The " AND gates act as interlocks which ensure that a further step up or down cannot be initiated unless the instruction from the appropriate " OR " gate is present, and that the previous bi-stable circuit and its associated contactors are in the correct condition. In Fig. 1 (not shown), the contactors 41 ... 43 control motor resistors in four steps. It is stated that notching on may be influenced by conditions such as motor current and that the gates and bi-stable circuits may be static switching elements.
