949,047. Packaging jellies. ALFRED BIRD & SONS Ltd. May 19, 1961 [May 25, 1960], No. 18483/60. Heading B8C. Jellies are packaged in flexible envelopes when in liquid form and then, after sealing, transferred to shaping moulds and cooled. A web 2 is folded and sealed to form envelopes 5 which receive the jelly from a heated hopper 7. After sealing and screwing by means 10, 11, the packages are carried between mould halves 13, 14 through refrigerating means 15. The packages may have areas such as 26 pressed to exclude jelly but not sealed so that, after cutting-off the adjacent seal, the envelope sides may be separated. The envelope may be laminated. The envelopes may be produced by using a tubular web and sealing it transversely.
