948,429. Extrusion presses. H. BERSTORFF MASCHINENBAU-ANSTALT G.m.b.H. Dec. 13, 1962, No. 47092/62. Heading B5A. In an extrusion press having a wide slit nozzle for the extrusion of thermoplastic synthetic resins, the nozzle 8 has a worm 19 for effecting an approximately even distribution of flow of material through the nozzle, the worm 19 being covered over the greater part of its periphery by the nozzle housing 7, and between said worm 19 and the nozzle outlet there is a rotary shaft 23 having a polygonal cross-section e.g. hexagonal, for effecting a fine distribution of said material. The material leaving the hexagonal shaft 23 flows through a narrow passageway 24 whose effective cross-sectional area can be regulated by an adjustable throttle beam 22. The worm 19 and the rotary shaft 23 are driven by independent means. Specification 890,138 is referred to.
