Abstract

1455506 Distributing material across flat sheet die HERMANN BERSTORFF MASCHINENBAU GmbH 8 March 1974 [9 March 1973] 10556/74 Heading B5A In the extrusion of a flat plastics film or sheet, the material from a die inlet 2 is distributed to the wider outlet 7 by a die passage which widens and reduces in depth towards the outlet 7, and which contains flow detecting members 3, 4, 5, which are angularly adjustable with respect to the direction of the material flow to ensure the same rate of extrusion across the width of the outlet 7. A constriction 6 is provided upstream of the outlet 7. The members 3, 4, 5, are sharp edged at their upstream and downstream ends and may be mounted to either the lower or upper die half, with a clearance from each die half, 3c, 4c, 5c, and 3d, 4d, 5d. The angular adjustment is effected by screw threaded spindles 3a, 4a, 5a, which are locked by nuts 3b, 4b, 5b, and carry markings which indicate the adjustment, in comparison with markings on the external surface of the die.
