947,077. Shearing. B. E. BOOTH. Nov. 23, 1960 [Dec. 15, 1959], No. 40338/60. Heading B3W. A slot-cutting shears for severing corrugated sheet by disc-cutters 10, 13, 13a comprises a frame 5, part of which passes through the slot. Supports 1, 2, shaped to fit over a roof-beam, are connected by a member 4 which supports plates 7, 7a. These carry the frame 5 and a shaft 12 mounting the cutters 13, 13a, which are pressed by springs 16 against the cutter 10. Plates 6, 6a on the frame 5 carry a shaft 9 driving the cutter 10. An electric drill 26 fixed to the member 4 may drive the shafts 9, 12, through gearing 21-25, or the gear 24 may be removed and the machine driven by a crank having a gear for working with gear 23. The shafts 9, 12 and member 4 may be of circular or square cross-section and telescopic. An inclined edge 5c on the frame deflects the strip removed by the cutters.
