[Also in Division B4] A gang slitter machine for shearing sheet metal comprises individually detachably-mounted cutter heads each having a bearing 40 supporting a blade carrier 45 which, when the head is in position on the machine, is driven through gearing 54, 56, 58. As shown, coacting blades 48, 70 are mounted in bearing members 40 in upper and lower members 26, 68 which can be readily mounted in guides 14, 60 and clamped in any desired transverse position along the guides by means of T-bolts 22. Pressure between the coacting blades is effected by adjusting the upper blade by rotating the screw-threaded outer member 36 of the bearing 40. Each blade carrier is provided with gear teeth 54 which mesh with an idler gear 56, a common gear 58 extending across the full width of the machine for effecting the drive when the head is attached.
