Abstract

946,679. Boring earth &c. HALIFAX TOOL CO. Ltd. June 29, 1961 [July 7, 1960], No. 6890/62. Divided out of 946,678. Heading E1F. [Also in Division F2] A drill tube includes an outer body 28, a flushing fluid tube 34 co-axial with the body, couplings 27, 32 for joining the drill tube to like tubes to provide a continuous compressed air passage around the flushing fluid tubes of the coupled drill tubes, and couplings 26, 22 effecting a fluid tight connection between the flushing fluid tubes of the coupled drill tubes. The couplings 27, 32 have ducts 35 for the passage of the compressed air which operates a "down the hole" percussive drill (not shown). The couplings 26, 22 of a drill tube are in fluidtight engagement with the tube 34 so that flushing liquid or gas may be supplied to a pipe 20 leading through the drill to the bit. The couplings 27, 26 are formed to connect to an adapter 16 at the top of the drill and having a coupling 22 and compressed air ducts 18. The couplings 32, 22 are formed to be connected to the rotating motor shaft at the earth's surface. Specifications 714,663, 793,925, 844,607, 844,608 and 946,677 also are referred to.
