[Also in Division G3] In a rolling machine 1 provided with an automatic thickness control system (not shown) for adjusting the size of the roll gap, the flatness or shape of a material 4 being rolled is sensed by measuring devices 5 connected to switching and amplifying devices 8 which are in turn connected to adjustment devices 3 acting on the roll system 2. Deviations from the desired shape cause the devices 3 to adjust the roll gap so that the irregularities are eliminated.
