Abstract

Walls and buildings are proofed against rising damp by the injection into spaced boreholes therein of an aqueous solution of a salt, acid or alkali capable of reacting with calcium compounds in the structure to form sparingly soluble calcium compounds. The solution may be heated before injection. Examples of solutions are those of alkali silicates or polysilicates, oxalic or tartaric acid or alkali salts thereof, alkali fluorides, or metallic silicofluorides.
