Connection to a surface X-X or a contact 17, carried thereby is effected by a coupling member comprising a contact 6 on the end of a rod 4 mounted in a suction cup 1. The rod is slidable in the cup and connected thereto by a resilient sleeve 8, so that when the cup is pressed on to the surface, the sleeve 8 pulls the rod and contact 6 into engagement with contact 17.
