Abstract

945,874. Moulding briquettes. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. Dec. 9, 1959 [Sept. 9, 1958; Nov. 21, 1958], Nos. 28898/58 and 37522/58. Heading B5A. Powdered material in a hopper 11 is forced by a two-part plunger 12 of the kind described in Specifications 809,672 or 828,164 into a nozzle 10 which may be split into three parts and clamped by an hydraulic piston 21, as described in Specification 875,441. When the pressure in the nozzle builds up, the pressure in the cylinder 12c builds up until a relief valve 17 opens causing the inner part 12b of the plunger to move down and compress the centre of the material. The die 10 may be cooled. The hydraulic supply to the cylinder 22 may be controlled by valves operated by the two-part plunger.
