Abstract

945,688. Transformers. H. JOSSE. Aug. 3, 1960 [Aug. 7, 1959], No. 26961/60. Heading H1T. In a liquid immersed transformer 1 the insulating fluid is protected from oxidation and moisture by an inert gas above the liquid. Heat expansion of liquid and gas is allowed for by letting the gas expand in a flexible container 3 against external springs 7 or internal springs, Fig. 2, not shown. A dryer 2 absorbs moisture derived from insulation or leaks. The strength of the springs is such that the volume of the container is half its maximum volume when the internal pressure is equal to atmospheric, the internal pressure normally varying slightly above and below atmospheric.
