Abstract

Electrical capacitor with decreased inflammability is placed in a sealed housing, and consists of thin metallic covers which can be regenerated, and dielectric intermediate layers which are placed between the covers, and are impregnated with a liquid agent, optionally having dielectric properties. The liquid agent consists of a (I) major proportion of an inflammable, insulating liquid with a low vapour pressure, and a (II) minor proportion of a liquid which has a vapour-pressure 2-6/10 higher than the other component, and has a non-flammable vapour. The liquid agent II consists of a mixt. of (A) a liquid with a high vapour pressure, and a b.p. 50-100 K below the b.p. of liquid I, and (B) a liquid with a high vapour pressure, and a b.p. ca. 100 K below the max. required fire safety temp., corresponding to the beginning of boiling of liquid I. The wt. ratio of A:B is 0.65:1.3:1.5:0.5, and the wt. ratio of A + B:I is 0.00025-0.1:1. Liquid (I) comprises e.g. polybutene alkylates.
