Abstract
945,244. Furnace conveyers. BLAW-KNOX CO. May 6, 1960, No. 16102/60. Heading F4B. The rollers of a rollerway furnace conveyer or work-supporting members on a continuous conveyer are lined with a composite carbonaceous layer comprising 95-20% by weight particulate carbon and 5-80% by weight particulate metal. The metals include silicon, titanium, zirconium, chromium or aluminium or mixtures or alloys thereof, and 5-40% boric oxide may be included. As applied to a roller, Fig. 1, the lining comprises a cylindrical sleeve 14 with recesses 15 on a body 11, said recesses 15 engaging lugs 18 of retaining rings 16 locked in position by a welding bead 17. The continuous conveyer, Fig. 4 (not shown), comprises chain links supporting shoes covered by a layer of the composite material.
