944,621. Collapsible tables; folding underframes. B. EVANS. Nov. 9, 1962 [Aug. 10, 1961], No. 5057/61. Headings A4H and A4W. A collapsible table comprises two foldable frame portions secured to opposite ends of a flexible member 8, and two legs 4 pivotally connected to each of the frame portions the frame portions being releasably connected to form a square or rectangular frame in the erected position and the flexible member in the collapsed condition being rolled up with at least one folded frame portion extending axially therein. Each frame portion includes a U-section end member 1 with a side member 2 pivoted at one end thereto, the portions being assembled together by engagement of a threaded stud on the end of each side member 2 carrying a wing nut with a slot in one end of the end member 1. The flexible table 8, e.g. of canvas or plastic, has secured to its top surface parallel laths 9. The table is collapsed, as in Fig. 2, by folding the side members 2 to lie alongside the corresponding end members 1, folding the splayed out legs 4 to lie within the U-section end member 1 and then rolling the flexible member 8 around one folded frame portion. A strap 14 is permanently carried by one end member 1. In an alternative arrangement wherein spaced tubes are secured to the lower face of the flexible member 8 and the laths 9 are omitted, the flexible member 8 may be doubled over and rolled to contain both folded frame portions and secured by a strap carried by the flexible member.
