944,582. Cutting concrete &c. blocks. J. HEBEL, [trading as JOSEPH HEBEL GASBETONWERK]. Feb. 17, 1960 [May 23, 1959], No. 5650/60. Heading B5A. A grid 5 located in grooves in a base 1 of a block cutting apparatus is provided for raising and transporting a plastic block 8 which has been cut into sections by wires which are guided by slots contained in the base 1. As shown in Fig. 1, a concrete block 8 is placed on top of horizontal cutting wires 24 which are situated on top of the concrete or steel base 1. The block is then cut into transverse sections by the wires 24 which are tensioned in a frame 21 movable vertically in channels 17. The block is cut into longitudinal sections by vertical cutting wires 3 which move longitudinally of the base. The wires 3 are tensioned between a beam 13 and beams 11 which slide in longitudinal channels in the base 1 and which form part of a mobile structure 10, 11, 17, 18 provided with wheels 25. Simultaneously, the top and bottom of the block are cut by horizontal wires 19, 20. The grid 5 is then raised to carry the sections of the block to an autoclave. Knife blades in the form of bent strips 15, 16 can be provided to cut grooves of a desired shape in the blocks.
