Abstract
944,324. Packaging-machines. F. THEEGARTEN. April 26, 1960 [April 29, 1959], No. 14637/60. Heading B8C. Apparatus for individually wrapping two different kinds of sweets, arranging them in elongated groups with alternating kinds in each group and wrapping the groups, comprises means to space one kind as it issues from the individual wrapping device and to push the other kind into the spaces so formed. The confectionary is supplied by machines 10, 11, in strand form, the strands 12<SP>1</SP>, 13<SP>1</SP> being cut by knives &c. 18 and the two sweets so formed at each cut fed into wrapping wheels 16, 17. Reciprocating elements 19, 20 pass them, individually wrapped, from the wheels to beneath pivoted pushers 24 which operate out of phase, to force them into channels 23, thus turning them through 90 degrees. Owing to the out of phase pusher operation, a member 27 is enabled to move each sweet 26 transversely between gaps in the row of sweets 29. The column of alternating sweets advances to a further pusher which forces a group into a wrapper head, the finished packages being ejected at 32.
