Abstract
943,849. Shoe manufacture. SVIT, NARODNI PODNIK. May 25, 1961 [May 28, 28, 1960], No. 18862/61. Heading A3B. [Also in Division H5H] A manufacturing line for shoe manufacture comprises a chain conveyer system having an upper horizontal portion I, a lower horizontal portion II and a section III extending from the upper horizontal portion I in a vertical direction and stations for driving IV and tensioning V the chain conveyer. Two veltilating channels 31, 32 are provided below the upper horizontal portion I of the conveyer, one above the other, the lower one of which 32 having infra-red radiations 33 end electric heat radiating elements 34. The conveyer is composed of plate shaped components 20 linked together by bolts 19 passing across the full width of the said components. Each component carries an abutment 22 which supports an element 23 for clamping a last 30 in position on the component. The chain conveyer moves on rollers 21 which are freely rotatable about the bolts 19 over rails 3, 4 in the frame 1. The chain conveyer passes over five pairs of sprocket wheels 6, 7, 9, 10, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18, being the driving sprocket wheels, conveyer tensioning sprocket wheels, and sprocket wheels determining the path of the vertical motion respectively, the circumferential indentations of which engage the ends of the bolts 19. The driving system 50 comprises a motor 56 acting through a clutch and a rotating drum on the sprocket wheels 6, 7 the system being geared for intermittent movement in the direction of the arrows in Fig. 1, the distance of one movement being equivalent to the length of one of the component plates 20, the rotating drum also affecting through a number of gears, the operation of machines at different stations a &c. along the chain conveyer. The tensioning system comprises the two sprocket wheels 9, 10 mounted on a shaft 8 in a bearing 11 which slides between the members 60 under the action of a spring. Air circulation is effected by partitioning the vertical conveyer part within the casing 27 by two walls, providing channels 35, 28, 29 and these together with the additional wall 41<SP>1</SP> and exit channels 44 and 41 with adjustable flap openings between the channels 31 and 32 allow air to circulate in the direction of the arrows u in Fig. 1. The circulation is forced by the ventilator 40, used air passing out of the system through the channel 35 and outlet 48 and a new supply being taken into the system through the openings 0, 0<SP>1</SP>. A series of infra-red heaters 38, and heating elements 39, are mounted in the vertical channel to react upon work placed centrally on the conveyer chain components, the heaters 38, 39 drying a layer of adhesive automatically painted on the lasting margin of the upper in an initial operation. A second ventilator 45 draws air through the passages 47 over the warm lasted assembly to cool it. The upper and insole assembly are initially slip lasted on to the last 30, the processes of heating stabilizing the shape of the aforementioned upper and insole assembly.
