Abstract

943,471. Automatic phase control systems; phase detectors. PYE Ltd. May 30, 1960 [June 3, 1959], No. 19012/59. Heading H3A. Synchronizing pulses W2 and a sawtooth wave W1 to be controlled in phase are interchangeably applied to the base and to an impedance in series with the emitter of a normally blocked transistor to derive across a collector circuit capacitor C2 a D.C. voltage proportional to the instantaneous sawtooth voltage at the occurrence of the instants of switching pulses W2, and applied retroactively to stabilize the phase of the generator, e.g. television receiver line oscillator, producing the saw-tooth wave W1. A standing D.C. negative voltage V may be applied to both the emitter and base so that the D.C. output varies about this standing voltage. The collector has no operating voltage applied to it.
