Abstract

931,659. Saw-tooth generating circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Dec. 30, 1960 [Dec. 31, 1959], No. 44789/60. Class 40 (6). In a line timebase for a television receiver, the rise time of the flyback is reduced by positive feedback from the output stage 14 to a tap 6 on the inductor 3 of the line oscillator 10. As shown, the frequency of the line oscillator is controlled by a circuit 2, 3 tuned to the nth harmonic of the line frequency. The valve 10 becomes conductive during the positive peak of every n cycles of the sine wave at the grid, giving a negative-going pulse which is shaped by circuit 16 and used to terminate the sweep produced by the output stage 14. This action is made more rapid by feeding back the rise in screen voltage to the tap 6 on inductor 3.
