Abstract

898,393. Valve sawtooth circuits; automatic phase control systems. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Aug. 11, 1959 [Aug. 14, 1958], No. 27498/59. Classes 40(5) and 40(6). In a Miller-transitron sawtooth generator having capacitive coupling between screen and suppressor, the frequency is controlled by variation of a negative voltage 16 applied to the suppressor. The circuit may be synchronized by negative pulses 15 5 applied to the suppressor, screen or anode. The amplitude of the sawtooth output at the anode is independent of frequency. Reference is also made to a circuit in which capacitor 4 is connected between the fifth and first grids of a heptode, synchronizing pulses being applied to the fourth grid, and the anode being connected to a phase discriminator to which the synchronizing pulses are also applied. The direct voltage produced by this discriminator is then fed to the fourth grid as frequency control. The invontion may be applied to a generation of frame sweep for a television receiver. Reference is also made to known circuits in which the frequency is controlled by variation of anode or screen voltages.
