425,035. Valve generating circuits. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd., Blyth Road, Hayes, Middlesex, and CONDLIFFE, G. E., Thorncombe, Fulmer Road, Gerrards Cross, Buckinghamshire. Aug. 3, 1933, No. 21851. [Class 40 (v)] The invention relates to " blocking oscillators" producing oscillations of saw-tooth wave form controlled by received synchronizing pulses of peaked form such as employed for the line frequency and frame frequency in television reception. Its object is to preserve the sharp peaks of the synchronizing pulses and to prevent triggering of the line frequency oscillator by the frame frequency oscillator. Fig. 1 shows a known type of blocking oscillator and Fig. 2 an oscillator circuit according to the invention comprising a heptode valve. The synchronizing signals are applied between the control grid 9 and cathode ; grids 10 and 11 act as accelerating and decelerating electrodes respectively while the reactive coupling is effected between grids 12 and 13 through the usual iron-core transformer 18. 19 is the anode reservoir condenser across which the saw-tooth oscillations are produced. Grids 10 and 11 may in certain cases be dispensed with and the anode circuit may be coupled to grid 12, eliminating grid 13.
