Abstract

494,685. Valve generating circuits. BAIRD TELEVISION, Ltd., and TINGLEY, G. R. April 29, 1937, No. 12221. [Class 40 (v)] In a scanning oscillator of the type in which anode and grid circuits of a thermionic valve 1 are magnetically coupled by means of a transformer 2 to an extent sufficient to produce sawtooth oscillations whose frequency is determined by resistance 3, an auxiliary valve 10 having a control grid is reversely connected in parallel across the anode to cathode space of the oscillating valve. Synchronizing signals or a substantially direct current signal derived for example as described in Specification 472,686, [Group XXXV], may be applied to the grid of the valve 10 to control the initiation of the scanning process. The valve 10 may be so biassed that it acts as a separator of mixed picture and synchronizing signals. Specifications 456,138 and 465,344 also are referred to.
