[Also in Division F1] A compressor or turbine rotor having blades machined from the solid, has, before machining, one or more holes made in the cross-section of each blade into which studs are inserted for fixing the shrouds or cover-plates, the size of the studs being such that they are partly cut away during machining. A radial flow compressor rotor 1 has blades 2 machined from the disc. Before machining studs 4 are inserted and locked by pins 6. The studs are partly cut away when the blades are machined to shape. The projecting part 5 of the stud is riveted over to attach the cover-plate to the rotor. Additional studs 4<SP>1</SP> near the rotor inlet have their projecting parts 5 fitted into blind holes in the cover-plate. The invention may be applied to axial flow turbines.
