Abstract

942,255. Kerbs. P. KING, and R. MOFFATT. Feb. 23, 1961 [Nov. 25, 1959], No. 39950/59. Heading E1G. A shell 3 of thermoplastic or resin bonded glass fibre material forming the front and top face of a kerb is supported on a foundation 1 by a flange 2 or feet (not shown) until filling material such as earth or lean concrete has been inserted in the shell. The shell may have internal stiffeners such as 16, grout holes 18 and a vertical groove 20 in one end wall 19 which engages a vertical rib on the end wall of an adjacent shell. Alternatively adjacent shells may have spigot and socket connection. In a further embodiment (not shown) a shell of inverted U section is filled through holes in the top of the shell. If the shell is formed of translucent material light fittings may be housed in cavities in the filling material. The surface of the shell may be reflecting or coloured.
