941,834. Seating arrangements in vehicles. J. M. EITEL. April 19, 1960 [May 8, 1958], No. 13720/60. Headings B7H and B7J. [Also in Division E1] The driving seat 45 of a vehicle is mounted on lifting gear 21, 52 so that a workman can drive the vehicle and also be lifted through an opening 87 in the roof to work in an elevated position. The arms 52 supporting the seat are mounted on the end of a telescopic boom 41 pivoted on a casing 24 mounted on the rear of the vehicle. A reversible geared motor 33 controlled by a switch 69 on the driver's seat raises the end of the boom carrying the driver's seat by means of a chain 36 connected to the other end 38 and also drives a transmitter motor 66 controlling a receiver motor 64 which operates a screw adjustable arm 59 which keeps the seat level while it is lifted. The workman, to place himself in working position operates the same switch to control motors 43 operating the extension of the telescopic boom and a motor 28 turning the easing about a shaft 22 fixed to the vehicle, by means of gears 26, 27. The steering column 73 is supported by pivoted links 78, 81 to allow it to be moved out of the way about a universal joint 74.
