Abstract

1,206,030. Controlling vehicles. TRAKTORENWERK SCHONEBECK VEB. 22 Oct., 1968, No. 49959/68. Heading B7H. A vehicle comprises a rotatable platform 2 supporting a seat 3 and a steering column 4, a non-rotatable cab 1, a casing 14 containing steering elements located rotatably about the centre of rotation of the platform 2 and transmission members 10, 11 operatively linking the steering column and steering elements. As shown, the steering wheel 5 is connected through an articulated steering shaft within the column 4, an angle drive 10 and an intermediate shaft 11 with bevel gears 12, 13 within the easing 14, the output bevel gear 13 being connected through an electromagnetically controlled clutch 17 with a control shaft 16 of an hydraulic power steering mechanism 18. The platform is rotatable by a worm which meshes with a gear secured to the casing 14 and is rotatable by an hydraulic motor controlled by an electromagnetically controlled valve, the electric circuit disengaging the steering clutch 17 as the platform is rotated until it contacts an endstop when the valve cuts off the hydraulic motor. Control panels 6 and 25 are mounted respec. tively on the steering column 4 and the side of the cab 1. The platform may face sideways when stopped.
