Abstract

941,576. Insulators. DOULTON & CO. Ltd. Feb. 10, 1961 [Feb. 12, 1960], No. 5182/60. Heading H2C. A porcelain insulator has the part or parts subject to least electrical stress constructed of a synthetic resin. A porcelain insulator body 1 has caps 2, 3 preferably of epoxy resin. The top cap has embedded therein an electrode 5 and a conducting foil 7-which connects the electrode to . a conductive glaze 6 on the porcelain. The porcelain body may be hollow, with the glaze on the outside or the inside surface or may be of any convenient shape and be unglazed. Three such porcelain bodies may be mounted in a common epoxy resin cap and base (Fig. 8, not shown) to form an orifice insulator for a three-phase circuitbreaker.
