Abstract

939,850. Scaffolding; ladders. UP-RIGHT Inc. Jan. 29, 1960, No. 3299/60. Class 20 (2). [Also in Group XXV] A folding frame for a staging for workmen comprises two vertical frames 12 connected together by each of two braces 16, 17 each consisting of two hinged parts the hinges 18, 19 being secured together when the scaffold is erected. One part of the brace 16 is pivoted to the hinge 18 to which the other part 16 carrying a spring pin 25, Fig. 7, is fixed. The parts 17 are similarly arranged. The hinges 18, 19 are shaped to fit together at 21 when the staging is erected and the spring pin 25 in each hinge locks behind the other hinge. A stay 28 has two parts pivoted together which are aligned and locked by a sleeve over the pivot on erection of the staging. Engaging surfaces at the pivots also lock the staging in erected position. A platform is supported on crossbars on the frames 12 by hooks or vertical pivots. In a modification the braces comprise pairs of parallel members 116-119 and the parts 116, 118 of the braces which are in line when the scaffold is erected have ladder steps 120. Additional folding frames may be mounted on top of this modified form of frame.
