939,630. Coffee making machines. E. VALENTE. Oct. 10, 1961 [April 6, 1961; June 13, 1961], No. 36276/61. Class 129. [Also in Group XXVI] In a coffee making machine a pump 13 delivers hot water through a duct 5 to a spray head 2 which sprays the water through coffee in a filter 3, the pump being switched on or off by opening or closing a stop cock 26 in the duct 5. A valve in the outlet pipe 17 from the pump connects the outlet pipe to the inlet pipe 11 when a predetermined pressure is exceeded; alternatively both the inlet and outlet pipes may be connected to a two-way, by-pass balancing valve (Fig. 6, not shown), through a non-return valve in the case of the outlet pipe, which renders the outlet pipe water pressure independent of the actual water supply pressure in the inlet pipe. A boiler may be interposed between the pump 13 and stop-cock 26 and the pump connected to a cold water supply. A silent operating electric motor-driven rotary vane pump is described.
