Abstract

An elastomeric composition comprises the vulcanization product of a homogeneous mixture of (1) a chemically unmodified, unsaturated rubbery polymer containing more than 20 mole per cent unsaturation and (2) a rubbery copolymer of ethylene and propylene in amount 40 to 80 parts per 100 of the total polymer mixture. The rubbery polymer as natural rubber, homopolymers of butadiene, dimethylbutadiene, isoprene and pentadiene and copolymers thereof with styrene, alpha-methyl styrene, methyl methacrylate, methyl acrylate, acrylic acid, propylene butylene-1, divinylbenzene and vinyl pyridine. Vulcanizing agents and other compounding agents may be present.
