Abstract

A thermoplastic composition comprises as the essential polymeric ingredients thereof a mixture of a polymer consisting predominantly of methyl methacrylate units and having a softening point of not less than 75 DEG C., a vinyl chloride homopolymer or copolymer of vinyl chloride with up to 5% of its weight of other copolymerizable material such as vinyl acetate or vinylidene chloride, and a rubbery polymer or copolymer of butadiene-1, 3, there being in each 100 parts by weight of said mixture from 3 to 35 parts by weight of said polymer or copolymer of butadiene-1, 3, and the balance of the 100 parts consisting of a major proportion by weight of the polymeric methyl methacrylate and at least 5 parts by weight of the vinyl chloride homopolymer or copolymer. The methyl methacrylate polymer may be polymethyl methacrylate or a copolymer of methyl methacrylate with ethyl acrylate, and the rubber material may be polybutadiene or a copolymer of butadiene-1, 3 with acrylonitrile, methyl or ethyl acrylate or methyl methacrylate.
