Abstract

1357439 Ethylene polymer films BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 15 Oct 1971 [17 Oct 1970] 48036/71 Heading C3P Plastics films are prepared from a composition comprising (a) an ethylene homopolymer or an ethylene copolymer having at least 50% by weight of polymerized ethylene units or a mixture of two or more such polymers, and (b) from 0À05 to 1% by weight of a thermoplastic homo-, co- or graft co-polymer of styrene having a melting point of from 100‹ to 170‹ C. Exemplified ethylene polymers are: a copolymer of ethylene and methylmethacrylate on its own and in admixture with a copolymer of ethylene and tert-butyl acrylate, and a terpolymer of ethylene, acrylic acid and n-butyl acrylate. Styrene polymers exemplified are polystyrene and a copolymer of styrene and acrylonitrile. The compositions and melt indices of the polymers are given. The films made from these materials are stated to have improved gloss and reduced haze.
