Abstract
939,339. Pressure gauges. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Dec. 4, 1959 [Dec. 9, 1958], No. 41268/59. Class 106 (2). A McLeod gauge for measuring low gas pressures over a wide range comprises a gas compression chamber 7 and a compression capillary 11 which is of three sections 11a 11b, lie of different diameters d 1 , d 2 , d 3 . Communicating with the gas supply tube 1 are three comparison capillaries 15, 16, 17 of diameters corresponding to the sections 11c, 11b, 11a respectively. A quadratic scale 18 is associated with the capillary 11 and the appropriate linear scales 19, 20, 21 with the capillaries 15, 16, 17, O 0 , O 1 , O 2 and O 3 being the zero lines on these scales. A small correction chamber 8 is provided for correction of the volume of the main gas chamber 7.
